Eric at Kenwick-Perth Western Australia 2008

Hi, my name is Alarico De Sena (Eric). I am the person who designs, manages and maintains this website. I run this website from my home in Perth - Western Australia. I used to live in Melbourne then for personal reasons I decided to move to Western Australia in December 2005.

I work in library and information services and in my spare time, I run an online home-based business in health and wellness nutrition. I have been doing this for nearly four years and I really enjoy it. So my interest in designing my own website started from there. Then I decided to do a certificate in multimedia and website design at TAFE so that I can design and develop my own website.

This website was originally launched in May 2008 with the name: Ramelau Music Magazine - a website project for TAFE. Then I thought about creating an online information service on East Timor so I changed the name to Ramelau Information Services. That is how this website was born.

About Mount Ramelau/Foho Ramelau

This website is named after Mount Ramelau, the highest mountain in East Timor at 2963 metres. The mountain is located approximately 80km south of the capital Dili and in the district of Ainaro. Foho Ramelau/Mount Ramelau was used as a political anthem of the Revolutionary Front of Independent East Timor (FRETILIN) in 1975. At that time I was only 14 years old and I could hear Fretilin supporters sing Foho Ramelau when they visited districts and villages. I did a search on Google and found the original song on Geocities website:

Original Tetun Words

Lyrics: Borja da Costa. Adopted: 1975.

Eh! Foho Ramelau, Foho Ramelau!
Sá bé as liu ó tutun, Sá bé bein liu ó lolon eh!

Tan sá timur oan hakruuk bei-beik?
Tan sá timur oan atan bei-beik?

Tan sá timur ulun sudur uai-uain?
Tan sá timur oan atan uai-uain?

Hadér rai-hun mutin ona la!
Hadér loro foun sa'e ona la!

Loke matan loro foun too iha ó knuak
Loke matan loro foun iha ita rain

Hadér kaer rasik kuda talin eh!
Hadér ukun rasik ita rain eh!
